For the third year in a row, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology’s Lakeshore Eye location in East Grand Rapids is proud to attend The Taste of East Grand Rapids!
This family friendly event is taking place on Tuesday, August 15th, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
What To Eat
You’d better come hungry, because some of our favorite local restaurants will be there! Participating restaurants include:
- Big Bob’s
- Carolina Lowcountry Kitchen
- Clean Juice
- D&W
- Foo Yen
- Jersey Junction
- Kona Ice
- Kilwins
- Olive’s
- Osta’s Lebanese Cuisine
- Wok & Mortar
Food wise, we’re most excited about Carolina Lowcountry Kitchen. We’re hoping they bring some of their shrimp and grits, or some fried green tomatoes!
Since it’s been a hot summer here in Grand Rapids, we’re also happy that Kona Ice will be participating as well!
Kona Ice is the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer night, plus you can make your shaved ice exactly the way you want it.
What To Do
As you enjoy the food, make sure to look around, because there’s a lot to do at Taste of East Grand Rapids. This year, there’s an inflatable bounce house, a magician, balloon animals, face painting, henna, and a photo booth!
Part of what makes this event so great is the fact that it’s great for the whole family. It’s a great opportunity to take a few hours and enjoy our amazing East Grand Rapids community.
50% of proceeds from ticket sales go to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Tickets are only $1 each, so there’s no such thing as buying too many!
Here at Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, we love being part of this community. That’s why we always make sure we’re part of events like this one, and the 2019 Rhythm Run.
Come Find Us At The 2019 Rhythm Run!
After the Taste of East Grand Rapids, make sure to come and find us at the 2019 Rhythm Run on Saturday, August 17th! This year’s 5K is taking place at Martin Luther King Jr Park, with the race starting at 8 am.
Don’t feel like running? No problem! There’s more than just running to experience at this family-friendly event!
There will be face painting, kids activities, and even a fun run so the whole family can have a good time. This year’s Rhythm Run is sponsored by the Grand Rapids African American Health Institute.
Even if you’re not running, we encourage you to come out and have some fun! Who says being healthy has to be boring?
Look For The Vegetables
Did you know that vegetables like carrots and bell peppers are good for your vision? If you want some healthy veggies, stop by our booth.
Each vendor will be handing out small goodies, and at ours, you’ll find vegetables! Don’t forget to get your passport stamped as you go around the various vendors either!
Getting your passport stamped by all the vendors is the only way you’re eligible for the door prizes! This year, we’re giving away a picnic set, perfect for a beach picnic!
Because everyone knows, West Michigan has the best beaches!
Gilda’s Club & Cancer Awareness
Another important part of this year’s Rhythm Run is Gilda’s Club. Through Gilda’s Club, Grand Rapids is doing our part to raise awareness about cancer in our community.
We are doing this by making sure more people in the community get screened for cancer. Gilda’s Club also provides support and healthcare to anyone dealing with cancer or grieving the loss of someone in their life. Providing these screenings can save someone’s life.
We’re so excited for these events, and can’t wait to continue our involvement in this wonderful community! Whether old or young, Grand Rapids Ophthalmology has something for your vision!
